What an amazing 6 years it has been. Nothing changes your life like the day your first child enters the world. I will never forget the intense love I felt for Ava the moment I saw her. Now I look into her eyes 6 years later and I see how much she has grown and how much my love for her has grown. She is smart, loving and beautiful and I couldn’t imagine my life without her.

It’s true… she’s growing up and we have loved every second of it. She is still just as perfect as the day she was born.

She was very serious about her cake eating and every time I tried to take the silly headband off she would cry. This is her checking to make sure it’s still up there. I think she liked being the birthday girl.
Finally on the week she turned 11 months Nina started crawling. She doesn’t do it much and its really slow when it happens but at least we know she can do it. Being carried is still her preferred mode of transportation. It’s so cute to see her scoot around the room and find things to play with that she has never been able to get to before. Looks like the next stop for her is the “BIG” birthday in May.

I know it’s been a while since my last blog post. It’s not that I haven’t been taking pictures I just haven’t found the time to edit and post. Well I have tried many times but the cute little baby pictured below screams everytime I try to set her down. When I was pregnant this past time and I would tell people it was my third they would tell me that this baby would be laid-back and would learn to go-with-the-flow. ” Oh my third was so easy” I would hear… NOT the case with Nina Ippolito. I try to remind myself that there are worse things than a baby who wants her mommy. So hopefully if little Nina can be a tiny bit more independant I will have time to get a little more done around here.

I had the pleasure of photographing two sweet little peanuts this week. The lucky parents are friends of Brandon’s from college who moved down a few years ago. I laugh because I remember a conversation with the mom ( before she was pregnant ) where we were talking about coming over and she said ” but we don’t have any kid stuff at our house for your kids to play with”. Well that couldn’t be farther from the truth now! I can’t wait to see there house in 18 months when these little guys are running around. It was so much fun to photograph them and it was extra special because I had Alisha, a fellow photographer come along to help me out. Twins can be very overwhelming but having a calm and experienced friend there to help and a laid-back mommy made for a great session.

There is only about a one pound difference between these two but it’s amazing what that looks like when you are only 5lbs.

Well Nina is 8 months… gosh how time flies. She just started clapping but we are working on other fun baby tricks like waving and drinking from a sippy. Sleeping through the night would be a good skill to master too but I’m not going to hold my breath. She has discovered the dog and cats and LOVES to talk to them and touch them when they walk by. This is a great age because every day we discover more of her sweet personality.
This picture is one of new favorites.

So before I post more of Nina I wanted to post a couple of Ava and Kellen. It’s not that I love Nina more it’s just she likes when I get the camera out. Nina will actually look at me and smile and I don’t have to bribe her. The only way to get good pictures of the big kids is to catch them in action. These pictures of Ava are from when it snowed a few weeks ago. I actually forgot I had them and when I was listening to the news and they mentioned snow it reminded me I had taken these. I couldn’t get Kellen to go out in the snow because he hates to be cold. He took one look out the front door and declared he would be on the couch watching Arthur if we needed him. The picture of the two kids together is just them goofing around. Kellen is so fast most of my pictures of him turn out blurred or I get his back as he is running away. Hopefully we will get some snow tomorrow and I can get both the kids out in it.

Nina started sitting on her own last week and there are many reasons why this is exciting. First of all as a photographer it’s MUCH more fun to take pictures of a baby that can sit. Second of all she can play with her toys now and the other kids want to play with her because she appears to be more like them. Really the only bad thing about it is that this always means crawling is on the horizon. So here she is sitting like a big girl at 7 months old.

I am a firm believer in the saying, ” God never gives you more than you can handle.” In this case it would apply to parents of multiples. I am always in ah of mothers who not only carry twins for 9 months but then rise to the tough challenge of raising them. God picks special people to do this. Yesterday I had the privilege of photography twins for the first time. I was a little scared going into it but the babies were great and the mama was about as laid back as it gets. It was a wonderful learning experience that I am very thankful for. Grandma and Great Grandma were both there helping with these sweet little angels and it was beautiful to see 4 generations together. I didn’t get that picture but it is certainly one they need to take. There were already three adorable boys in this family and this is their new little brother and sister. It was amazing to see these little ones snuggled up next to one another. They have such a unique bond… like they are best friends already.

Aren’t they beautiful?
Sweet little Nina is on her 4th antibiotic in 7 weeks for her ears. I can’t imagine what it would be like to have ear pain for 7 weeks and have to sleep and eat and go about life. Babies and kids are so much tougher than adults. She really doesn’t complain too much during the day but the nights are a little harder. I hope this one works for her and she can feel good for Christmas.
